Web Application for Air Traffic Control via Satellite

Situation

Alaska is as large as 3 states of Texas but has less than 1 million residents. Alaska has vast distances and variable winter weather. Many remote communications sites are accessible only by plane, boat, or helicopter. The land based on copper and fiber infrastructure is thus minimal. Satellite is the ideal way to communicate over these long undeveloped areas.

Solution

The AM3440 is used to send multiple DS0s over satellite links to remote locations. It is purpose-built with high availability, hardware protection and high MTBF numbers. This device is able to transport standard PCM voice and low bit rate voice for phone and air-to-ground radio communications, radar data, serial data through TDM and/or packet satellite links. The AM3440, the heart of the system, also provides a high level of protection for power, controllers, and communications links.
