Upgrading DCS1/0 Applications of an East Asian Carrier Network with Loop-G7800

Situation

A large East Asian carrier company is running an older DCS 1/0 system that supplies many critical services. Even though SDH and SONET have largely been replaced by MPLS in many carrier networks, some end customers find it hard to replace all TDM-RTUs to packet-RTUs in a very short time. At the same time, existing DCS 1/0 equipment continues to age and does not fully comply with current cybersecurity standards.

Solution

The upgrades would need to comply with the following requirements:

  • Aggregates E1 ports and builds a mesh handover network over a packet transmission backbone
  • Supports dedicated n*64 Kbps (channelized E1/T1) leased line for critical services
  • Have the capacity to meet both current cybersecurity standards and future ones
  • Easy, intuitive UI for the end-user to configure and maintain
  • Causes no disruption for existing infrastructure to seamlessly migrate to the new network

 

Loop's G7800 can connect to the PTN transmission network via GE ports, forming a point-to-point mesh ring topology. The G7800 provides a scalable DS0 grooming solution that maximizes E1 fill rates and allows easy remote management through a user-friendly GUI EMS. It uses CES and TDMoETH technologies to transport and hand over DS0 circuits, replacing legacy DCS 1/0 systems. The equipment primarily accommodates E1 multiplexers and switching devices for E1 circuit handover. 

The G7800 provides the TE1-FR card for high-capacity digital access and cross-connection capabilities. With the evolution of technology, Loop-G7800 can be connected to a packet network. The capability for any N x 64 Kbit/s (N=1 to 31 for E1) circuit from one E1 line supports up to 992 PWs per card. This allows for a total of 9,920 pseudowires over GbE uplinks with 320 E1 channels for access, offering higher capacity and greater flexibility in network functionality.
