Remotely Managing 30 E1 with AM3440 and V4200-9

Situation

A customer in East Asia needed reliable, sensibly-priced equipment to set up a system where several low-speed connections could be transferred to high speed and also cross connect within each node. Furthermore, they needed remote inband management capabilities in order to monitor each node’s status and to change the configuration upon request, without traveling to the node site itself.

 

Solution

The Loop-AM3440 fulfilled all of the client’s needs. This solution not only aggregates all the low speed DTEs into E1s but also cross connects via the AM3440's D&I function. Management of the Loop-V4200-9 is done through local SNMP. The router card within the 4200-9 allows remote management of up to thirty AM3440 units. Overall, the system ended up being reliable and affordable.
